The standard barrier of all progressive party (APC) presidential candidate bola Ahmed Tinubu finally selects his running mate as kashim shatima,former governor of borno state.
In my opinion the selection of kashim shatima is not a bad thing like wise in the other hand its seen as favoring the Muslim community by selecting a Muslim.
In his statement forward”we must answer the nations call for some this requires of us that we step forward”assuming new roles and responsibilities,for others it means something else for all of us. it requires that we dedicate ourselves to the collective national task as never before. Here he is relating his running into power or running for presidential candidate as it is time now to rule and he is calling upon all the politician to follow in a good governance way to deliver the best of ability to the masses which to me I think it is something of difficult status,something which Nigeria has been wanting but every governor or president will come and say what will favour him to the masses and then as soon as he is on sit or in the system he forges everything and everyone.
Also in his speech he said he is a democrat and must listen to and consults with his people and advisors so that he may reform and govern wisely on their behalf of course, it is a good idea for every leader to listen to his people and also consult his advicer when necessary, but the question here is that will every leader do that, even after saying it in the process of his campaign. Of course, having a vice is good and also not looking at the perception of others,to choose either a Christian in order for the Christian community to blossom or for the Muslim community to do same. All these is not because at last run he has finally chosen a vice and fortunate enough he is a Muslim.
The idea of having a Muslim president and a vice is not good because minds and thought will be in one place,despite the fact that kashim is from north and the President is from south, the fact remain that they are both Muslims.
For him to state the fact that having a Muslim president and a Muslim vice in 1993 and people embrace it with open arms. why would still thinks that after 30 years the leadership and governance that took place then will still be happening now.
Also in my opinion having kashim stattima as vice president is not bad because is a Muslim and also the future first lady is Christian, do we all think that because she is a woman her words or some action will not be shown in the government of Nigeria, let be frank with ourselves, she won’t sit and watch her religion going down for some reason,she must definitely do something about that. That is why I said having Nash shatima and him is not bad ,everyone of them will try to advocate for his religion and the president will not be having contradicting mind.
In conclusion its either bad nor good to have a Muslim vice president in Nigeria for the above reason I made mention. My prayers is may God see us through this 2023 presidential elections.
